Ainsdale War Memorial

Remembrance Ceremony - Sunday 11th November 2012


This year, Remembrance Sunday coincided with Armistice Day so, in an especially poignant fashion, the Remembrance Ceremonies around the country actually took place at 11am on the 11th November.


We were particularly pleased that, this year, the names of those commemorated on the Ainsdale Village War Memorial were once again to be seen clearly, as part of the renovation work being undertaken by the Society has been completed. The inscription on the Memorial has been restored, and some of the stonework and pointing has been improved.


Around five hundred people attended the ceremony which was conducted by the Rev Peter Lyth on behalf of Ainsdale Churches Together. Fourteen wreaths were laid on behalf of local organisations, and crosses were planted by children in memory of the fallen
