12th Annual Ainsdale Open Gardens Weekend

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th July 2016

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND

Well, what a fantastic week-end we have had for this year’s Open Gardens despite the awful weather on Saturday. Sunday was glorious sunshine and we had lots of visitors. With 14 gardens to view, our visitors had plenty to see and thanks to on-line promotion, people came from as far afield as Harrogate, Leeds, Manchester and North Wales.

Of course many of our visitors were from Ainsdale, Birkdale and Southport as well as Formby and other parts of Sefton and Liverpool.

Thank you to all you wonderful gardeners for opening up your homes to give so much pleasure to so many people, and thank you also to all those who came to enjoy the day and support our event.

A special mention to Jon Howard of course, who drove his bus for more than six hours each day, to transport people around the gardens – many, we suspect, just going to enjoy the ride.

We can’t wait to do it all again next year, so don’t forget, it you would like to share your garden in 2017, please get in touch with us. Just click on the quill to send us a message!

In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the slideshow.

Blessed with good weather the event was the most successful ever with almost 350 visitors coming to the 12 gardens opened to the public.

As a result more than £2750 was raised on behalf of the Society and will benefit charities which include Neuropath Trust; Help for Heroes; Queenscourt Hospice; African Famine and the Lions Charity shop.

We especially thank those wonderful residents who opened their gardens to the visitors.

Those who opened their gardens for the first time and were perhaps, a little apprehensive, have told us that it was beyond their expectations and they have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

In fact some of their neighbours have already asked if they can be included next year!

Thank you also to the Chocolate Box; Brough’s Butchers; Graysons Bakery; Cooksons Garden Shop who sold the tickets on our behalf.

It is only through events such as this and the co-operation of people like these that we are able to continue our work to care for and improve Ainsdale village, so once again, thank you so much and we thank every single one of you who came to visit.

We can’t wait to do it all again next year – if you would like us to include your garden – get in touch!
