11th Annual Ainsdale Open Gardens Weekend

Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th July 2015

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND

Well, we had another very successful Open Gardens weekend. The weather stayed kind and more than 250 people came to enjoy the weekend and look around the lovely gardens - one lady even came down from the Lake District!

Thank you to all the wonderful gardeners who opened their homes for everyone to enjoy their fabulous works of art - and they are fabulous. Thank you, too, to Jon Howard who drove everyone around in his Vintage Bus and to our members who manned the information point in the Village.

The amount raised from ticket sales was £1365 and £1355 was raised for the various charities including Cystic Fibrosis, British Heart Foundation, Southport Lions, Help the Heroes and MacMillan Nurses. Over the 11 years we have raised £10,284 for the Society and £10,254 for charity and sold 2726 tickets. A special thanks of course to Iris and Sylvia who organised the whole thing.

As usual, we would now like to invite you to sit back for a few minutes and watch the slideshow!

Blessed with good weather the event was the most successful ever with almost 350 visitors coming to the 12 gardens opened to the public.

As a result more than £2750 was raised on behalf of the Society and will benefit charities which include Neuropath Trust; Help for Heroes; Queenscourt Hospice; African Famine and the Lions Charity shop.

We especially thank those wonderful residents who opened their gardens to the visitors.

Those who opened their gardens for the first time and were perhaps, a little apprehensive, have told us that it was beyond their expectations and they have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

In fact some of their neighbours have already asked if they can be included next year!

Thank you also to the Chocolate Box; Brough’s Butchers; Graysons Bakery; Cooksons Garden Shop who sold the tickets on our behalf.

It is only through events such as this and the co-operation of people like these that we are able to continue our work to care for and improve Ainsdale village, so once again, thank you so much and we thank every single one of you who came to visit.

We can’t wait to do it all again next year – if you would like us to include your garden – get in touch!
