8th Annual Ainsdale Open Gardens Weekend

Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th July 2012

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL WEEK-END

Well we did it again! – Once again we produced a wonderful week-end for the gardening enthusiasts of Sefton. Despite a torrential downpour early on Saturday morning, the weather then improved and the people came!

This year we had 13 gardens open including the Village Community Garden which were open for the public to view. More than £2000 was raised on behalf of the Society and will benefit many charities.

This brings the totals raised from open gardens, since we started, to a total of £12,566 over the 16 days in 8 years. Our thanks go to all those wonderful gardeners who opened their doors (or gates) for the week-end to the many visitors, and to all those who visited the gardens.

For many of the gardeners it was the second or third time they had opened their gardens but for some it was the first time and they may have been slightly apprehensive about it beforehand. All of them agree, however, that it is a fabulous experience. They can proudly show off their hard work and talk to the many like-minded people who visited them.

It is only through events such as this and the co-operation of people like these that we are able to continue our work to care for and improve Ainsdale village so, once again, thank you so much and we thank every single one of you who came to visit.

Thanks also go to the Chocolate Box, Brough’s Butchers, Grayson’s Bakery, Howards DIY and Cookson’s Garden Shop, who sold the tickets on our behalf.

We can’t wait to do it all again next year – if you would like us to include your garden – get in touch! Just click on the scroll to the left, and our feedback page will open.

This year’s Annual Open Gardens Week-End was the best one ever!

Blessed with good weather the event was the most successful ever with almost 350 visitors coming to the 12 gardens opened to the public.

As a result more than £2750 was raised on behalf of the Society and will benefit charities which include Neuropath Trust; Help for Heroes; Queenscourt Hospice; African Famine and the Lions Charity shop.

We especially thank those wonderful residents who opened their gardens to the visitors.

Those who opened their gardens for the first time and were perhaps, a little apprehensive, have told us that it was beyond their expectations and they have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

In fact some of their neighbours have already asked if they can be included next year!

Thank you also to the Chocolate Box; Brough’s Butchers; Graysons Bakery; Cooksons Garden Shop who sold the tickets on our behalf.
