6th Annual Ainsdale Open Gardens Weekend
Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th July 2010
This year, we decided to concentrate our efforts on improving the visual aspects
of the village, and to that end we have been able to obtain from Sefton Council the
many flower baskets you will see hanging on the lamp posts along Station Road. We
were able to purchase these thanks to the support of many of our local traders, and
with the help of a grant from The Grassroots & European Social Fund, administered
by the Community Foundation for Merseyside.
If you enjoy looking at these beautiful baskets, then you probably enjoyed seeing
the lovely gardens included in our Open Gardens Weekend on 10th and 11th July 2010.
We are fortunate that several of our residents open their gardens to allow you all
to enjoy a variety of different styles of garden. These are not the large gardens
that you might expect of stately houses; rather they are extraordinary gardens in
ordinary homes. However, the love and attention which has been poured into these
gardens is obvious to every visitor.
The event is very popular, and in past years we have had visitors from many other
areas. There were twelve gardens to visit this year, and the tickets, which were
very reasonably priced at £4 per adult, covered admission to all the gardens over
the two days. Accompanied children under the age of 12 went free.
